Confetti — setup & configuration

4 min read

The GeoBuddy Confetti addon adds animated confetti celebrations to your GeoDirectory directory site. When a user completes an action — such as submitting a listing — a burst of confetti plays on screen, making the experience feel rewarding and memorable. It is a small touch that noticeably improves how users feel about interacting with your directory.

What the addon includes

  • Animated confetti effect triggered on GeoDirectory events
  • Customisable confetti radius (particle size)
  • Customisable confetti number (particle count)
  • Custom emoji confetti — use any emojis as confetti particles
  • Customisable emoji size
  • Option to disable emoji confetti and use standard confetti only
  • Live preview — test the confetti layout directly from the settings panel
  • Works with all GeoDirectory custom post types
  • Mobile-responsive animations
  • Lightweight — no impact on site performance
  • Translation ready

Requirements

  • GeoBuddy core plugin installed and active
  • GeoDirectory 2.0.0 or higher is installed and active
  • An active GeoBuddy Bundle Membership or a single-site license from wpgeobuddy.com

Step 1 — Purchase and download

The Confetti addon is a premium addon. Purchase a license from wpgeobuddy.com or get it as part of the GeoBuddy Bundle Membership. After purchase, download the addon ZIP file from your account.

Step 2 — Install the addon

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  2. Select the addon ZIP file and click Install Now.
  3. Click Activate Plugin.

After activation, Confetti will appear as a menu item under GeoBuddy → Settings in your WordPress admin sidebar.

Step 3 — Open the Confetti settings

Go to GeoBuddy → Settings → Confetti to open the configuration panel.

Step 4 — Configure the confetti settings

Check Confetti Layout

Click the Try Now button at the top of the settings panel to preview the confetti animation with your current settings. Use this to test how your configuration looks before saving — no need to go to the front end every time you make a change.

Confetti Radius

Controls the size of each individual confetti particle. The default value is 5. Increase this number for larger, more visible particles — decrease it for a finer, more subtle effect.

Confetti Number

Controls how many confetti particles are fired in each burst. The default value is 501. A higher number creates a denser, more dramatic celebration. A lower number produces a lighter, more subtle effect. Reduce this on lower-powered devices if you notice performance issues.

Confetti Emojis

By default, the confetti burst includes a set of emojis as particles — such as 🌸, 🌈, ⚡, 🎉, ✨, 🎊, and ❤️. You can customise this list by editing the emojis in the Confetti Emojis field. Enter each emoji separated by a comma.

For example, to use only celebration-themed emojis:

🎉, 🎊, ⭐, 🏆, 🥳, 🙌

Confetti Emojis Size

Controls the display size of the emoji particles in pixels. The default value is 50. Increase for larger, more prominent emojis — decrease for smaller ones that blend more naturally with the confetti burst.

Disable Emojis Confetti

Check the Disable Emojis Confetti checkbox if you want to use standard coloured confetti particles only — without any emojis. This is useful if you prefer a more traditional confetti look or if emojis don’t fit your directory’s branding.

Step 5 — Save and verify

Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Confetti settings panel. Then use the Try Now button to preview your final configuration, or visit your directory’s Add Listing page on the front end and submit a test listing to see the confetti fire in context.

Troubleshooting

Confetti is not appearing after the listing submission

  • Confirm the addon is activated under Plugins → Installed Plugins.
  • Use the Try Now button in the settings panel to check if the animation works in admin — if it does, the issue is likely a front-end conflict.
  • Check for JavaScript errors in your browser console. A theme or plugin may be blocking the confetti script from running.
  • Clear your site cache and try again.

Emojis not showing in the confetti burst

  • Confirm the Disable Emojis Confetti checkbox is unchecked in the settings panel.
  • Make sure the Confetti Emojis field is not empty — it must contain at least one emoji.

Confetti animation is too subtle or too overwhelming

  • Adjust the Confetti Number — lower it for a lighter effect, raise it for a denser burst.
  • Adjust the Confetti Radius — smaller values produce finer particles, larger values produce more visible ones.
  • Use the Try Now button to preview changes without leaving the settings panel.
