Trash-never-delete policy
The AI can never permanently delete a listing — only trash it, so nothing is ever unrecoverable.
Per-group kill switches

The MCP key must explicitly have write scope enabled — read-only keys can't be used for writes, even with this addon active.

Common questions
Do I need the free GeoBuddy plugin installed too?
Yes. GeoBuddy AI is an addon — it requires the free GeoBuddy core plugin (v1.0.12+) to be installed and active, since it adds write tools onto GeoBuddy core's existing MCP server rather than running its own.
Do I need to set up a new connection or server?
No. GeoBuddy AI adds tools to GeoBuddy core's existing MCP endpoint using the same connection key you already use for read-only access — nothing new to configure in your AI client.
Can the AI permanently delete my listings?
No. Every delete action is routed to trash, never permanent deletion. This is enforced in the addon itself and cannot be bypassed by the AI.
What happens to writes that bypass GeoDirectory's own validation?
They can't. GeoBuddy AI uses WordPress's Abilities API and routes every write through GeoDirectory's own REST controllers in-process, so data stays exactly as consistent as if you'd made the change in wp-admin.
Which AI clients can I use?
Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor.
Is write access on by default?
Listings and Reviews write-access can be toggled on per site from the AI/MCP settings page. Settings writes are off by default and must be turned on deliberately.
